Diagnosis

This home lies in a hollow and after heavy rain the water table rises and the ground floor floods.

Solution

In conjunction with the homeowners’ insurers, we reduced the permeability of the Cotswold stone walls using Stonehouse Pre-mix No.5, linking the walls to the floor slab.

‚Äč

We lined the walls to 1.2m with a meshed Newton 508 cavity drain membrane and laid Basedrain in a channel cut into the floor. Water drains to 2 Titan Pro Green sump chambers each with 2 x NP750 pumps and battery back-up systems.

The wall and floor finishes were returned to the original state and there was no visual impact of our work. This was tested during the next bout of flooding in 2014 and found to be successful in all aspects.
