EAST LONDON

1/5

Diagnosis

This former school in London was converted into apartments. The lead work to a roof valley had split resulting in water penetration and an outbreak of dry rot.

Solution

We minimised disruption by cutting out the decayed softwood timbers and replaced the load-bearing rafter feet with resin-splices. By embedding stainless steel bars into the joint, the resulting rafter is stronger than the original.
