There are some situations where timber repairs cannot be achieved through traditional carpentry techniques. In such cases we turn to epoxy resin as an alternative and durable solution.
Resins can reinforce existing timbers by allowing the bonding of steel or fibreglass rods to upgrade the strength of timbers.
Timber framed buildings frequently have open mortice and tenon joints which are later filled with a sand/cement mortar. This shrinks and allows water to enter the joint, trapping the moisture and speeding up the decay process. We can usually remove the mortar, together with the decay and carefully reform using a mix of English Oak and resin which allows the joint to move.
